30 DAYS/DAY 6

DAY 6- favorite super hero and why

Perhaps Rainbow Brite is not quite the super hero that most people think about when answering this question, but she is my all-time favorite.

In 1987, in a journal for school, I wrote that "my favorite fantasy is that I could slide down a rainbow."

Maybe this is where my love for all things rainbow began. Maybe not... I think I just have had an obsession with bright and pretty colors eversince I was born. ROYGBIV, you do just do it for me.

Now let's talk about Rainbow Brite and how incredibly awesome she is.

1) She get's to slide down rainbows!
2) She has a horse that has rainbow colored hair and can fly
3) She avenges evil (the King of Shadows) with her magic color belt
4) She makes dull places happy ones, full of color
5) Her friends are all different colors of the rainbow: Red Butler, Lala Orange, Canary Yellow, Patty O'Green, Buddy Blue, Indigo and Shy Violet
6) Fun little guy named Twink
7) She lives in a place called Rainbow Land

Created by Hallmark in 1983, "...a little orphan girl named Wisp is taken by an unknown force to the Colorless World. She must find the Sphere of Light, but upon doing so, she befriends a sprite, Twink, and a majestic white horse known as Starlite. She rescues the seven Color Kids (one for each color of the rainbow) and finds the Color Belt, which is the tool she needs to bring color to the land. After using it to defeat the King of Shadows (also known as the Evil Force and the Dark One), an evil hooded being with twitchy fingers, the unknown force renames Wisp as Rainbow Brite. She and the Color Kids (and their helpers, the Sprites) live in Rainbow Land and are in charge of all the colors on Earth." (wikipedia)

I mean, seriously... imagine a world without color. Ugh, exactly. This is exactly why Rainbow Brite is my super hero. I would never want to live in a world full of desaturation... just drab shadows of greys, how boring.

SIGNED: "Hey Glumface! Next time there's a rainbow look up! You'll feel better... and you might see me too!" -Rainbow Brite

I used to have that movie. And by have that movie ... I mean we rented it from a video store and my grandpa set up his video camera and zoomed in just the screen on the tv and recorded it while the video was playing. Pirating as a 5 year old!!

I absolutely LOVE Rainbow Brite as well! I have the old school doll ... and the 20th anniversary one still in the box from Hot Topic from back in 2004 or something like that.
