1. Went kindergarten through my senior year all in the same school district. My family never moved towns and still hasn't since I was three years old. I was never the "new kid at school" thus never being picked on OR (reverse of that) for those highschool years, being the "cool new girl" that everyone wanted to date.
2. The shortest my hair has ever been has been a little below my shoulders. It's true- I've always had long hair. When I was little my mom wouldn't let me cut it, even when all the girls were getting "styles" or cutesy bobs. I used to detest this... but then I grew up. I realized that I really really love having long hair. It's kind of like my trademark. If I cut it, I do believe I'd have a few several many people flip out. (I can hear it now... "what did you doooooooo?!!!!")
3. Had a hole in my right ear when I was little. Like inside my ear... not for an earring. It's called something, I just don't know what it is. I had surgery so they could take skin from behind my ear to fix inside my ear... tubes were involved before or after, I can't remember the order BUT I had to wear nasty earplugs when I was learning to swim and I hated them because my hair would get stuck all up in them.
4. Adore all things in rainbow order. This includes arranging my books and clothes in my closet this way... and anything else that happens to have ROYGBIV in it. I think this obsession began with Rainbow Brite.
5. Gospel or quartet music makes my soul smile. I love listening to hymns being sung especially when the people singing them are decked out in choir robes and are swaying, clapping or rejoicing. Throw in a guy named Kirk Franklin and this gets me even more giddy-happy. And as for the quartet music... there's nothing better. From the quartet in my hometown church to listening to vinyls of the Oakridge Boys as a little girl... I love the sound that four people can produce when singing together.
6. I am not a picky eater. I love all foods. Probably the only food that I can think of right now that I do not like is eggplant. Foods that have changed over the years that I didn't used to like, but like now include tomatoes and mushrooms. In 5th grade we had assigned seating in the lunchroom and I sat across from a guy named Mina Eskander whose mother would pack him whole tomatoes in his lunch. He would bite into these tomatoes like they were apples and I remember thinking that was the most disgusting thing ever. This is probably why I didn't like them to begin with. Also in 5th grade we learned about kingdoms. One of these kingdoms had mushrooms in it and our teacher decided we'd start calling that kingdom "Funky Fungi". Now really, who wants to eat something called "Funky Fungi"?? Not me. So, I didn't... and because of Mina, I wouldn't eat tomatoes. Now it's just me and the nasty eggplant.
7. The first concert I ever went to was The Monkees. My nextdoor neighbor took me and their son when I was maybe 6 or 7 years old. How cool... even though I don't remember going really... I'm still a believer.
8. Two knee surgeries later, I am completely finished with soccer. I first started playing on a boys team when I was 5 or 6 (when girls teams didn't exist) and then went on to play club, highschool and eventually college. It was in college, my junior year playing in the Sweet 16 that I tore both my ACL and LCL. Thankfully it was at the end of the season, but I was out until the next season and I think, pushed myself to come back too soon. This was the worst of my two surgeries. My mom had to come live with me in my college apartment and I remember crying when she left because I was quite a mess... it felt like something had been suddenly ripped away from me that I could never get back. And in saying that, was true... I never came back to be the exact same player I was post-surgery. I did learn a lot about having a heart for others that go through injuries. Second surgery came from playing indoor and also to get some hardware taken out from the first surgery and it was then that I decided, no more soccer.
9. My whole right side seems to have bad funks to it. Seriously. Let's start at the top. My right eye doesn't work as good as my left (had to wear an patch when I was younger even!... arghhh!). My right ear had surgery. I have a terrible, bad habit of scratching behind my right ear. It is really bad and needs to stop... there is no good explanation behind this. My two knee surgeries on my right knee. And finally, my right foot I swear, is half a shoe size larger than my left. All so strange.
10. I wanted to be a ballerina when I grew up. Well, that was in kindergarten. Then in second grade I got it right. An artist! I said I wanted to be an artist and that is what I do now... kind of. I'm a graphic designer by trade... got my degree in it. Now, however, I design graphics for trials... anything to better help explain a theme or a case to a jury. Attorneys will hire the company I work for to gain research about their case throughout the whole trial process. I love what I do. The artwork is not always the prettiest but it is everchanging and challenges me.
11. November 30 of this year I turn the big 30. 30 on 30th... sounds great but let's end it there... at least I still look 24.
12. I don't mind doing things alone. Movies, dinner, lunch, museums... whatever, I feel pretty confident/content in "me" so I don't get bothered by not having people around all the time. Thankfully, I have a wonderful friend group, so whenever I do need someone they're always, always there. The best thing I did by myself was go to a concert at House of Blues. I really really wanted to go see this artist and found out she was performing at the very last minute (too last minute to find anyone to go with) so I walked over, purchased a ticket for one, and enjoyed the concert. It was Santigold and she was awesome! Eventually, some birthday party took me in once they found out I was by myself and I hung with them. I still feel though, just getting there was the hardest part to do... I'm so glad I did.
13. For the last three years, I've been volunteering in South Dallas with Cornerstone Kids. I've been with the program since it's birth about 3-4 years ago. Basically its an outreach to come and love and play with the kids in the area. Many of these kids come from broken homes and in not the greatest neighborhoods of town. Some weeks run smoothly... other are more chaotic. In the hours that we get to spend with them we try to pour into them the message of Christ's love along with mentoring them so that they can in turn be leaders in their community. Through Ckids, a partnership organization called Champions of Hope was created. CoH is a one-on-one mentoring program that pairs a 4th grader with an adult as they walk through life together. What's going on in South Dallas is amazing... I love being able to work with these kids and the community.
14. I don't have cable or internet. At home. I have a TV, yes... but I only watch movies on it. I have found that there are plenty of other things I'd rather do with my time- be with friends, workout, read, create something, cook, play with my dog, even clean my apartment then waste time in front of a screen. That said, sometimes movies are even hard for me to sit through because I always feel like there is something I can be doing. On to internet. I don't get internet and haven't had internet for the past 4 years (well, same as cable). Since I spend so much time in front of a computer screen at work, the last thing I want to do is get home and get back in front of a computer screen. I have an iPhone and that works great if I need something on the spot... but yeah, I've considered just giving in but eventually I just think internet need to be free for everyone. Really.
15. I believe that a complete life is one that is found in love. 1 Corinthians 13.

LOVE IT- but also hate that you don't look 30. I'm pretty sure I looked 30 at 18- which had its perks! Chad and I've never had cable throughout our married life (9.5 years) and I hope we never do!
That's amazing that you don't have cable or internet at your house. I wish that we could do that ... maybe it would force us to get out of the house and do more things with our lives.
My right foot is a half size bigger than my left too! Also, if you read my 15 things, my right hand is significantly bigger than my left as well. Weird!
