JUST DO IT

"Creativity is not something that just “happens” to you or magically appears in your life; it’s something you foster in yourself, through the process of doing."

Have had some down time lately to be creative but I've run into a problem. Lack of creativity. Today, I read this article entitled, "The Unsung Secret of Being Creative" and it inspired me. I find many similarities in the author and I... especially, "the pressure to perform". She then went on to write about three things she would perform for 15 minutes daily just to kick the creativity into gear.
"1) My goal for my creative time (or as I like to call it, time in the Creative Sandbox) was to play and experiment, period. It did not matter if I “completed” anything, just that I mucked around with my paints and inks and supplies. 2) No judgment allowed – it did not matter whether I liked what I created at all. All that mattered was that I was engaged in the creative process and enjoying that. 3) “Ruining” something I’d started earlier by adding more to it was not only okay, it was encouraged. (Hey, it’s all an experiment, right?)"
With that said, tonight my friend Erika and I are going to join forces together... but individually... and CREATE. Hers with writing and mine with drawings. Painting will have to be left out this time around since we'll be working from a small Italian restaurant around the corner from our little downtown neighborhood. I hope by working in eachother's company, it will ignite some spark inside me to get it all going. By Christmas... well, before Christmas I would like to open an Etsy store as it has been a goal for quite some time.

So here's to a bunch of drawing tonight. Let's hope all goes well.

And if it doesn't, then there always is tomorrow. :)
