WEEKEND ESCAPE

Weekend was quite wonderful… I spent it with these people for Road Rules III.

Fri-Sunday flew by so fast that I was a terrible zonked mess at work yesterday and couldn’t even play a Scrabulous word if I tried. However, managed to get in a mega hot run and then catch up with my old roommate a bit before crashing on the couch.

Met a lot of awesome folk… and was happy that I was never placed in a van with someone I already knew. I have a new found appreciation for mini vans… especially the ones with the side windows that roll down. There are a lot of highlights from the trip, but I think I’ll have to save those for another post. Here’s more from life in my little one bedroom (requested by the lovely Ra Ra Ra Rachel!).

#236 – GIANT PAPER CLIP
why: found at, you guessed it, another thrift store | that day all wooden items were 50% off (imagine sales at a thrift store) | currently this is located by the front door | piece of paper on it is John 15:5 that came with #237 (see below)

#237 – MARIMEKKO SHOWER CURTAIN
why: im absolutely in love with this brand | fabric selections are completely original and always use such bright colors | if its not bright colors, it’s the organic shapes and flowers that I adore – a little abstracted… I loves it! | also was a little house warming present from my sister Lindsay who is my favorite sister (also my only sister) :) #238 – DINING ROOM
why: now is my unofficial “studio” of sorts | I clean up on weekends but during the week supplies and projects are strewn across the floor | I have a large intimidating canvas that stares at me every morning whispering “paaaaint meeee” and for the life of me my mind is as blank as the canvas | note to self: steal Dad’s easel as to discourage lower back pain from painting hunched over on the floor.

WHAT’S MISSING IN MY LITTLE ONE BEDROOM?
- Curtains. I can’t find any I like though… and honestly have considered making my own in a new sewing adventure… not too sure I want to take that one on though.
- Computer chair. I kneel on my knees as long as they can stand it… after two kneee surgeries that’s approx 30 seconds.
- Cable. I didn’t watch it that much before and honestly haven’t missed it. Its been nice to put time into other things. My mom thought I was crazy when I told her I wasn’t going to get it at all – now I just listen to the radio for Mavs/Stars games if I’m not out watching it with friends and sadly my DVD player doesn’t want to work either, so you can just imagine the nice silence.
- Table. Not sure I want one unless its to junk up with all my art stuff.
- Food. Haha, just running a little low this week– thinking I’ll try to make it till the weekend… and don’t ask me to take a picture of the inside of the fridge – it’s all your basics and minus some.

If I have learnt anything, it is that life forms no logical patterns. It is haphazard and full of beauties which I try to catch as they fly by…

If we fall, we don’t need self-recrimination or blame or anger – we need a reawakening of our intention and a willingness to recommit, to be whole-hearted once again. –Sharon Salzberg
