MUSICAL SPINACH

Doo doo doo. For some reason by listening to the Cranberries this morning I now want to hear the “Kiss Me" song by Sixpence None the Richer. Similar sounds, yes? Cranberries are just a little more whiney.

Doo doo doo.
I thought that after a month long of blogging with my girls that I would need a break from the craziness. Apparently I am on a streak and for the life of me can’t stop. OMG… hit me now, this realization is tragic.

Doo doo doo.
Okay folks, here’s the countdown to Kauai. 7-ish days?!? Next Friday departure to be exact… Heck to the yes!

Doo doo doo. Last night Nicole and I went to the opera to see Tosca, a captivating story of two passionate lovers. Of course I loved it. The story line drew me in immediately... The set design was probably the best I’ve ever seen… And the story itself, as I told Nicole was “very romantical”. They sang such words as… her love was “intoxicating” and “her sighs were like leaves that blew my way… “. I know that is a terribly awful description so here is what the Dallas Opera wrote about Puccini’s work. … I won’t give away the ending but it was pretty dramatic.

Tosca is set amidst stunning churches and pictorial palazzos in Rome during the Napoleonic era. Its heroine, Floria Tosca, a famous opera star and legendary beauty, finds her happy life shattered and is forced to resort to violent measures to rescue her lover who has been trapped in the web of the licentious Scarpia, theChief of Police, who also desires her. Puccini's sensuous melodies and astounding conclusion atop the Castelleo San Angelo will leave you breathless.

Doo doo doo. Alright, yesterday was bacon cups…. Now we have Bacon Curls!

Yummers – why do I crave bacon so much?! (Recipe after the jump)

SIGNED: Opera is not “musical spinach.” Yes, it’s nutritious, substantial even, but you don’t have to hold your nose and swallow. Opera is consistently entertaining, both onstage and off, and occasionally, it’s downright outrageous.
