I have been a little MIA on the postings this week. Is there a reason? Maybe so, but I can't think of one at the moment. So I ask, will you pretty please forgive me? Thanks, I knew you would!
So what's been down or up... up or down? Not much.
So what's been left to right... right to left? Can we say... THE WIND?!
Yes, the wind has been quite the Big Bad Wolf this week. Today, is much toned down... but earlier this week it was horrendous! I was half-expecting to see Mary Poppins fly through the air with her umbrella as I controlled the go-cart to and from work Monday.
Hmm... what else, what else?
I signed a new lease! SO excited about this one and here's why. Okay, wait before I move on to the good news... I have to say a few departing words about the roomates. For all my years after college (and during college) I have always, always lived with roomates. God bless them... At times I know we all tend to get on eachother's nerves even when it's the smallest thing and it shouldn't matter but overall roomates are and have been a really great thing. We always talk about in church or at small group about living in community and that it's a good thing to live with people because you learn a lot about yourself during the time. Well, after a good seven years of doing that... I have finally felt the need to live on my own.
Just as living with people can be beneficial, I think living on your own can bring new insight as well. So, I'm finally taking the plunge to do so. Now here's the most excellent news of all. I signed a lease today to move two doors down the hallway of my same floor of my same apartments and still maintain a view of downtown (it was my wish to move down the hall)!
I decided to stay at the same apartments for many reasons...
- I'm lazy and don't want to move to a whole new community (even though renting a loft was tugging my heartstrings)
- I feel safe (I can easily jog out of my apartment and go for a run on the Katy Trail... if I were to get a loft, this wouldn't have been the case as Deep Ellum isn't eactly female jogger friendly) and I absolutely have to live somewhere where I feel comfortable to go run (and it just makes it easier if its right outside your door).
- If I'm going to be living in the city... I want to be IN the city... I love buildings and think there's no reason to have moved out of the suburbs if I can't see the skyline... so I want skyline!
- Convenience to everything I do... with the exception of work (this meaning, the Katy Trail, AAC, House of Blues, and many events that are thrown here in Victory Park)
Sooo, this all goes down at the end of March. It'll be a little sad to move out from my roomates... one roomate, Kourtney and I have lived together eversince college (so that'll really be wierd not having her around!) especially since our rooms in college were right next door to eachother! But, we all have our different things we're involved in and things change and so do people... and some also get boyfriends that they may be engaged to in a years time (K!). :)
So, I feel living on my own will help me in a few ways. I think I'll feel encouraged to make more of an effort to call people up and see how they're doing, this and that, because I'm not very good at doing so right now. I don't believe I'll get lonely... as I'm rarely home anyways, except for weekends. And I think I'll be more inspired. I'm going to turn a section of my new apartment into my studio where I can keep my paints and art stuff out all the time. This way I'm hoping that I'll be more inclined to create and paint because I'll see it out which will make me want to work on it more.
Whew! Okay, talk about a post... this one is too long for me even!
